Instant "Extranet in a box" solution for customer portals
CogniDox helps companies who want to extend their public website by adding a customer-only portal or extranet that provides a secure environment for download of documents (including software releases) and information exchange such as a knowledge base or a way to raise support tickets.
The web development skills required to do this well can make it as expensive as the rest of the company website. It's also an area where the content is constantly upgraded, so it is important that employees with no HTML skills are able to publish and change content here.
We've solved this by integrating the content licensing features of CogniDox with the web content management features of two leading open source CMS products - Drupal and Joomla! This enables us to provide a powerful end-to-end web content publishing system.
Joomla! (as an example) provides a completely database-driven web site engine which comes with an extensive set of web elements such as News and Polls/Surveys. Users can modify menus and use the article manager to create and change page content. The look and feel of the web site is determined by template, and there are many free or low cost templates available to download from the Internet. Change the template, and the content is re-organized accordingly. Joomla can be extended in many ways using the components available from the Extensions area of the Joomla website. This allows e-commerce, blogs, message forums and many other components to be added. There are nearly 6000 extensions available,
From CogniDox, a user with publishing rights can decide that a particular document should be published in the "CogniDox component" of Joomla. Take a look at our video tutorials page to see how easy this is to do.
